Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear by Eric Larson

Creative walks on Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear animated by Eric Larson for Disney's "Song of the South".

(old VHS tape so the color's not very good. But the beautiful movement of the animation still shines through.)

  1. Absolutely brilliant. Why don't we post more about Eric Larson and his animation?

  2. Agreed. Eric Larson , along with Les Clark to name another great one, is not mentioned as often as some of the other lead Disney animators. All of their best work deserves more of a spotlight. (for example, the wonderful Woolie Reitherman scene of Capt. Hook climbing up towards camera that you posted on your blog recently)

  3. By the way ,this sequence from "Song of the South" was one that Zack Schwartz used in the Story classes he taught at Sheridan College when I attended there. Zack would show the whole sequence several times , then he would freeze frame through it , stopping just long enough for us to quick sketch the basic layout and key character poses in each scene. It was a great way to analyze the composition of the shots and how the story was told visually .
